All homeowners receive a Class 6 insurance rating regardless of fire hydrant proximity

Residents of Mason County Fire District 2 currently enjoy a Class 6 insurance fire protection rating.  The rating was obtained by the Fire District by the Washington State Survey and Rating Bureau during its last rating.  

In many instances you may see an increase in your fire insurance rates due to the fact that there is not a fire hydrant within close proximity of your home.  For these homeowners the Fire District has obtained a "tanker credit" that allows homes without a hydrant nearby to maintain a Class 6 rating.  The "tanker credit" is obtained by having large water carriers that can deliver water to your home during a fire. 

For homeowners we ask that you contact your insurance agent to discuss your current rating.  The Fire District has seen several occasions in which a homeowner has paid higher than necessary insurance premiums.  Be sure that your are being charge for a Class 6 Fire Protection rating.  For verification of the "tender credit" click here for a verification letter from the Washington State Rating Bureau.
