Just after 9pm last evening (September 28th) Mason County Fire District 2 responded to a mini van that had gone of the roadway and 10 feet down an embankment on Highway 3 across from the McDonalds. The car was traveling southbound on Highway 3 when it left the roadway and went over a steep embankment that was over 30 feet deep. The car was caught and held up by three large trees 10 feet down the embankment during its descent.
After crews were able to properly secure the vehicle from traveling further down the embankment all patients were extricated from the vehicle. The vehicles passengers included 5 children and 2 adults. All patients were transported to Harrision Hospital in Bremerton. Mason Fire 2 crews were assisted by units from South Kitsap Fire and Rescue as well as Mason County Fire District 5.
